This is the first time I've started a thread outside of the Dissociative Disorders subforum. I have only felt safe posting there until I read the threads from Trace14 and the book by Pete Walker, "Complex PTSD: From Surviving to Thriving" I discovered that book from a post that someone made on another thread.

What is described in that book sounds just like what I experience on so many levels. I can understand it, and it has given me insight into many things that I've not realized before.

I do have a question. The way that he describes dissociation is not exactly how I experience it. It may be, and I'm just not understanding. But. In reading his writing, he doesn't refer to "losing time" that I have seen. I have not come across references or experiences of being a "passenger" and another "part" stepping in and doing things that I was a witness to and unable to stop from happening.

Does he talk about these things, and I've missed it?

Just curious.

Ahhhh I'm glad you feel comfortable enough to post here. I expect dissociation can be different for different people, just my opinion. But I have been told with PTSD there is a normal amount of dissociation that happens. I lose time myself, in fact it happened today after a tele session, I lost about an hour and a half where I have no idea what I was doing during that time.
I'm feel like he addressed it but I don't have my book to look at, I loaned it to my neighbor who REALLY needed it.
Maybe some of the other members that have the book can look for it.

I "googled" Dissociation + Pete Walker and several addresses with info came up. Look into those and see if you can find what you are looking for.

Thank you for this. It's been a very busy weekend and today was also. I hope to have time tomorrow to look at it.

I just wanted to say thank you!

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
