I want to start by saying that I have a really great T, he’s super supportive, he knows when to push and when to back off, I wouldn’t trade him for anything.

Having said that, lately there seems to be a tension on my side of things, and I realized that I’m doing a lot of changing, and I’m not sure what it is I’m looking for from my T at this point, other then the basic listening and helping me work through m various issues.

I think I’m looking for or needing something specific from him, but I’m not sure what it is. What do you look for from your therapists?

We all want that. But sadly you may have to go through several T's before you find the right fit. Each person is different in what they need from a T. But the main thing is that the T is qualified to treat multiple traumas. A T that listens to you and can offer support and understanding. A T that makes you feel like they are there for you during the session. Focusing on you. You may have to talk with your therapist and tell him how you feel and maybe he can address some of the issues you are struggling with. He's not going to know unless you tell him. After that if things are not better for you it may be time to start looking around. Good luck, the right one is out there. But sometimes it's like spotting Big Foot to find them
