So I keep getting really positive comments on evaluations at work but it just makes me feel terrible because I feel I don't deserve it but even worse that I am sucking attention away from my colleagues and that they are the ones that really deserve the credit. Someone today was really trying to get me to acknowledge the feedback and feel good about it and all I wanted was to cut myself and just wanted to curl up and die. This is why I can't do all that self affirmation stuff pop psych tries to put people through.

For me, a sense of being hidden / inconspicuous helps me feel safer. So to receive praise, puts me out there in the open, which can feel overwhelming. Plus as I never received praise as a child, I have never learned how to respond to it so it can make me anxious. Although I do not now SH, these would have been triggering for me previously.

Thanks - yes same here. I try to blend into the background, I'm very good at camouflage.

I feel the same way, but also crave positive affirmations, so then I create and/ or trigger myself, then the snowball of everything else.
