I don't understand why. It seems every time I go to do one of my relaxation exercises I get this soul-crushing sadness by the end of it. Even though I am managing to relax it's hard for me to want to keep doing the exercises if I'm going to feel so emotionally bad...

I think it can be like middle-of-the-night thoughts? If you are relaxed, your guard is down and that can get at things your head, heart, body are trying to keep hidden from you. Keep doing the exercises and develop a curious, listening attitude, to see if you can find what the sadness is about?

I do yoga and when I am having a serious bout of depression, the meditation/relaxtion at the end of the class has the same affect on me. You put it perfectly "soul-crushing" is exactly how if feels. I try to focus on the "content" feeling that I had earlier during the class - sometimes helps.

It's interesting that I really feel very little emotionally otherwise; just that sensation of numbness...
When I was little activities that would be considered relaxing were always very solitary (and not by my choice). |

I have just tried mindfulness meditations again from about 2 years ago, I have CD's. Two years ago, they were triggering, now after much work and meds, I have been using them again and it is OK. I do feel fine.
I wonder if there are special mindfulness meditations when in the 'mindless' part of depression? Or is it ok just to lay on the floor and 'rest'? G1 |
