I'm havin a really bad week. I tend 2 go through phases where I feel really down for no reason. My boyfriend doesn't know how 2 deal with me when I'm like this so he kinda avoids me which makes me feel worse. I've spoken 2 him about this but can't answer him when he asks me what he can do 2 cheer me up. I'm at a total loss how 2 help myself & make myself happy. I don't know y I feel like this, on paper I hav a happy life. Its badly affected my confidence so that I kind of shut myself off & do nothing aside from work which in turn makes me feel lonely & even lower bt I can't seem 2 gt myself out of my little rut. Any advice or even just kind words would b very much appreciated! X

Hello, Jo22. If you are in the Northern Hemisphere, it might be Seasonal Affective Disorder. Is professional help an option for you?

Havent figured out how to quote yet

"I've spoken 2 him about this but can't answer him when he asks me what he can do 2 cheer me up."

Try telling him an extra hug or pat on the shoulder or a nice praise might help. I have learned in my situation; family and friends always want to help. When you push them away or keep saying IDK they tend to use avoidence at that point. Even if an extra hug, love ya, pat on the back doesn't work much for getting you out of the dumps, it's always nice to have and it lets the others feel like they are doing something to help. Everyone wants to feel like they can help...especially when it's a loved one.

Good luck and hope you feel the sunshine soon.

i have depression so i always feel that way and i hate the phrase cheer up. if i knew why i felt the way i did i'd work it out. sometimes you just need to have time to yourself. just tell your boyfriend that you just feel sad and don't know why and that you just need to hug or cuddle
