I interviewed for another position at my compnay about 3 weeks ago. (I posted about my anxiety towards not hearing about the position last week, I think.) Anyways, so I still haven't heard. I've been very stressed out-mainly because this new manager (the one that interviewed me) told my currant manager about my interest in another department or whatever was discussed. My manager came to be, out of the blue, and basically thought I already had the new position and was keeping it a secret. (This was the same week I had interviewed for the position.) I explained to my manager that yes I had interviewed but I have not heard anything and I am still deciding if this new position is for me if I am offered the job.
So, after that, my manager seemed very confused on why I had not heard anything-she had the most confused look on her face. (I was also confused/frustrated because I had no knowledge this new manager was going to talk with my current department about me, I specifically said in the interview, "I have not told my current department of this interview.and to my knowledge there is a privacy policy if you are requesting transfer to another department.) So, anyways, I decided to put in a call to HR to find out what happened. The HR rep was totally confused as well because my current manager apparently has been calling her wondering if I was leaving....I expressed my concern/frustration that my manager was aware of my interest without me directly telling her myself. HR rep said they have been trying to get a hold of the new manager and find out was going on and if I was supposed to be officially offered the position. When they did find out info the new manager was off and was still deciding, and it would be a "few days more." So, that was almost 2 weeks ago. I did leave a message for HR a few days ago, and have not heard anything. I'm assuming the HR rep is out of the office because she's been good about keeping me updated so far. I'm basically anxious because now I feel like currant manager has no idea what to say to me...in general. There's been a few co wokers that already left last month. I would have felt more comfortable with the waiting time if I was the one to inform my manager of my interest. I like my current job, but it is a very physically/stressful enviroment most of the time and I think it doesn't help my anxiety/medical problems; but I do like my current position alot. This new position would be less physically depending probally, and I am going back to school for a degree that is directly associated with this new position, I've always had an interest in the new department and was excited to find out there was an opening. The interview did go well, and I am happy with my confidence level in the the interview. I just don't know what to say to my current mannager? The longer it's been the more I'm thinking I just didn't get the position....I don't like how I feel like they are keeping my current manager hanging and me hanging... (Thanks for listening!)

No wonder you are stressed, that is a long time to be hanging on for an answer, I hope they let you know this week.

I don't blame you for being anxious. I would keep trying to get ahold of the HR to find out if the position has been filled, or if you're still in line for the job. They should keep you informed, whether or not you got the job! Leaving you hanging like this isn't good business, in my opinion.
![]() So keep "bugging" them until you find out what you need to know. I hope you get the job! Anything that is less stressful is great! Best of luck. Hugs, Lee |

It's horrible how they are keeping you waiting and you should have been the one to inform your current mgr, but it sounds like you did tell that person that you interviewed....which was the right thing to do.
I remember you posting about your anxiety about this before - I would email the HR Rep and just ask her if she could assist you in getting a final decision in this matter. Once you know you can move forward. |

I did hear from HR, still trying to find out what's going on. I spoke with my current manager about me looking into another position, etc. I got the cold shoulder completely. But I keep telling myself that I am confident in the way I handled the conversation.

stay confident cutebag...I know exactly what you're going through, I feel like I am going through almost the same thing only my job is through Americorps and I am wanting to transfer to a different position. I have had the same awkwardness with my supervisor. It's nice to hear that someone out there is going through a similar situation.
Doesn't make it any less stressful for you though ![]() I've felt better this week since I've made some steps toward the transfer and it is looking more hopeful that it can happen, but I still have yet to have an interview and have some more concrete steps. |
