I sympathize (I think, though possibly how I read that song is not how you do)

Whether young and fresh or old and supposedly experienced, these vampiric relationships are just as hard to free oneself from. Trying to please another who most the time will not be pleased is a fine trap. Anybody, everybody could see we ought to just walk away from it, but we just kept thinking "if I only try harder maybe it will work this time..."

I thought, and actually written out, all the "better things I can do with my time",tried them and found they felt empty. I wrote I could go to a beach for a day. I went, alone, and I just kept missing the one I said "I don't care" to (though we would never go to a beach - he deemed it a waste of time), and not long after I came back for more abuse and manipulation.

So I second my3sns, find support for yourself. Understanding that you don't care, don't want to care, or maybe just CAN'T care anymore is one thing, but in reality you probably still care a whole great deal (if you really wouldn't it would not HURT). Because while it sounds like we would walk away whistling a happy tune, joyful for freeing ourselves from such slavery, it just doesn't work that way. It hurts. It takes time to forget, it takes time to heal, and it's hard to be alone through it.
