I have a rare disease called trichotillomania where I pull out my hair and lately I can't stop. My anxiety and depression have been through the roof and I think it's because school is about to start again. I don't want to blow all my progress that I made just in time for school. I feel trapped and don't know what to do. If I have to go through half the stuff I went through last year I think I might actually commit suicide this time!

Bless your heart. What did you have to go thru last year? It sounds awful.

Please don't even THINK abou suicide. Remember that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem! It won't ALWAYS be like this! Things always change, and people aren't always jerks. High school is really difficult. You would be surprised at the number of people who have a horrible tiime with school. You are NOT alone!!! So many people have terrible anxieties about going back to school and think terrible thoughts. You can't SEE them, any more than anyone can see YOUR thoughts. But even the most "preppy" kids in school have the same anxieties that YOU have! Even the most popular kids in school have the same problem -- terrible anxiety. So don't feel like you're the only one. People learn now to put on acts so that no one can see that they're suffering. But they are.

Talk to your doctor about your medication -- I HOPE you're on medication!!! if you're not, you should be!!! Perhaps your meds need to be changed! Make an appointment and talk to him.

I wish you the very best! PLEASE keep us posted, ok? I really want to know how you're doing. God bless & take care. hugs, Lee

Hi Samisalone -- Leed and Lost Lamb are so right; high school is a difficult time for almost everyone. I had one high school teacher who said, "People are telling you this is the best time of your life. Don't believe them. But things will get better."

There is a big ole world out there beyond your high school, and you have a right to explore it and find your place in it.

Please hang in there, work with your counselors and p'doc, if you have one. Love yourself.
