Interesting video I found today. I think being rational is our number 1 tool for coping with and understanding emotions. If we stop to reason our way through how we feel instead of just reacting to it, we can become much more balanced and clear-headed.

Enable the reptillian brain!
Once the downfall of society is imminent, the reptilian brain will be reactivated to reach maximized potential, it's a great thing ain't it? Just like the good ol' bow 'n' arrows, loot the looters. Our reptilian brain is the oldest and primitive part, it's largely unchanged and our reptilian brain is in other animals with backbones. ![]() |

Did you watch the video? The "reptillian brain" seems to deal with the unconscious actions, not with logical reasoning. Also, all of our brain is human brain, there is no reptillian brain or mammalian brain. Our brains are also much more complex than this dichotomy.

I watched the video, yes.
What I find hilarious is the comment string on that vid, everyone is trying to act like realists with profound rationalism. Anyway, yes, it's true that humans don't have reptillian brains.. but I like to believe we have similar brain and neuro-anatomical structures like a reptile. ![]() There is a theory that OCD itself (which supposedly originates in the reptilian brain) is a course of sub-routines of cleanliness and territory on repeat. Watch this one about OCD affecting the basil ganglia (something reptiles have): |
