I have an open-ended question for everyone: what motivates you? (especially on those hard days)

I don't know if you would call it motivation or not but when I feel like I can't do anymore I remind myself that I have no choice and get myself moving. If I could I would quit my job and sleep late every day. I cannot afford to do that. I have no choice but to get up early and get to work.

My motivation is completely external: my job and my team. I get up during the week solely because I love my job and don't want to disappoint anyone there. I work hard in my personal life because I don't want to let my treatment team down, they have invested too much time and energy into me for me to f@$% things up. I work on me because I care about them.

Control. Its mostly involuntary, I'm just naturally a control freak. And it kicks in even when my bipolar symptoms are at its worst. Kinda infuriating at times when I feel like CHUCKING the towel at someone... Hmmm, not really inspiring this motivation of mine hey...

Survival...I have to work in order to eat, etc. and there is nobody else to do it. I have 2 dogs and they motivate me. If it weren't for those two reasons I'd probably do nothing for a long time.

What motivates me is life. I am no longer young and now I am relatively stable mentally. I want to enjoy my life to the fullest. I want to see, do, etc......the hour glass is running down and I refuse to not be happy now!

My youngest son is main motivation. I am all that he has in this world besides his 2 brothers and they are far from reliable, responsible, stable, or dependable. Also, I have 2 granddaughters that I am trying to get to see. If I mess up, it will be a reason their mother won't let me see them.

The saying....."things get better"...... This really personally motivates me. As corny as it sounds. Omg life does throw many amazing things at us. So I wanna keep moving and I keep holding on.... to see the very few diamonds in the ruff....

Usually it is my dog, specifically, then the rest of my pets I chose to adopt. But if I'm in a reallly reallly bad place, what motivates me is that even though I fantasize about dying, I'm too lazy to achieve the goal. And, even if I tried to end my life I probably wouldn't do it right, then I'd become a vegetable, or worse, conscious again...which would be a whole nother bag of fun.

And also what Shattered Sanity said.

I believe the world is on the verge of change which should be interesting if nothing else. Aside from this I continue to look forward to a natural death.

On my really tough days there are very few things that keep me going other than that it's easier to exist than to stop existing, so to say.
Though it's easy to forget when I'm down, I remember that I have my friends and family that care about me. Also, music helps a lot, I have both sad and happy memories I can focus on easier when I hear certain songs
