My mind is like a radio with all the stations hitting me at once and all I can hear is voices talking at the same time. I hate it. I just want to think about nothing for like five minutes, but I can't. I can't sleep. I don't know what to do. I don't want to talk about the specific obsessions, I just want to know how other people deal with this.

I try not to obsess about it, but that's a whole other obsession in itself ... It seems the more I try not to, the more I actually do (obsess) ... Wish I could be more helpful ...

That's okay, I get it. Sometimes I feel like my brain is feeding me false information but I guess that's the definition of OCD obsessions. Right now I'm okay but earlier it was really bad.

Cut back on Watching TV and other vocal media. Give mind quieting meditation a try.
Thanks for this!

Prozac, meditation, calming tea and talking to a kind friend.

I'm sorry for your struggle, that must make sleeping quite difficult. I am wondering if these voices are OCD related, or perhaps another disorder/illness? I would definitely bring that up to your doctor if it's not just OCD static.

I have OCPD, so I don't have intrusive thoughts. However I did have OCD for most of my childhood. I stopped listening and responding to the compulsive thoughts, eventually they went away. I am assuming you are an anxious person, maybe try incorporating something like yoga or meditation in your lifestyle? I usually listen to music when I am falling asleep, focusing on the song/lyrics seems to keep my mind from wandering. Also, I realize this is symptom of my OCPD, so I'm not sure if I should recommend this, but I really love making lists. Try to think about everything that's in your head, and write it all down. When it's on paper, it doesn't need to linger in your head. I usually write it down, and then give myself permission to 'check out' for the night. Sometimes I assign a day/time to each issue, so that I don't need to worry about dealing with it until the designated time.

Also, if you find that you cling to phrases, or repeat words and numbers, you might want to find some nice quotes or positive affirmations that speak to you. You can write them down on nice paper and decorate them, and post them around your bed, or in your bathroom, car, or wherever! That way you can try to replace the negative compulsive thoughts with positive ones.

Best of luck!

I also have a very hard time shutting off my brain at night. My friend suggested melatonin (herbal supplement), but that only works sometimes. I've found that using a relaxation app on my iPad helps to distract me from the clutter in my head.
