Music really helps. I agree. For me it's heavy rock - for some reason I find it theraputic !?

With regard to people. Modern society promotes a very selfish attitude to others. I have found that people as a whole don't understand anyone wanting to help others above themselves. This leads people to be very guarded about what they say. The person needing help doesn't want to say anything because they'll be perceived as weak and the person being asked doesn't like to help for fear of becoming responsible.

Where was I going with this?

I've not been on here long but have found the people on these forums are very caring and very helpful. Maybe the anonymity helps, but I find these forums far more helpful than anyone 'in real life'.

I've gotten to the point where music doesn't help me as much anymore. I love music but it's like I don't feel the same way about it anymore.

I love music and if i ever had the choice to be blind or deaf i would choose to be blind as i could not deal without music in my life, I love all kinds. There is also music therapy major in some colleges and i did a little of it in college too. it takes years and years of study to be one of the therapuetic people but i know all i have to do is turn the radio on sometimes and memories flow, good ones, and bad ones too but all i have to do then is change the channel!

Music always helped me. I've been depressed since I was a small child, and my parents were never available - so I always retreated into music and it always helped me. I could escape with music. And I really NEEDED to escape with the house I grew up in.

The funny thing is, even when I was little I was listening to 1940's music!! I'd listen to Frank Sinatra all the time. Granted, I was born in 1949, but still you'd think I'd have listened to more popular music instead of Frank Sinatra. LOL

Anyway -- music STILL helps me when I'm feeling down.

Music can really help us, we somehow say it is the food for our soul. We can express our emotions and feelings because of music, though we need to choose the right music to hear, not that thing that can complicate the situation. I love classics.

Music definitely helps, not only the rythem, but the lyrics of the song like Michael Jackson's " You are not Alone "
