Some one just told me about Capacitar Emergency Response Tool Kit. If you are familiar with the Capacitar philosophy and have practiced any of the Tools, would you be willing to share your experience? If Capacitar is new to you and you are interested in learning about it and sharing your opinion, here is the link Capacitar International: Home I just wonder if some one like me (diagnosed as Bipolar and Borderline) can really benefit from something that seems so simple. I get a little upset to think that I've been in therapy, taking medicine and struggling for so long and to think I could have been practicing the exercises in the Capacitar program all along. I am grateful for being introduced to Capacitar but I am skeptical about the effectiveness on some one with a mental illness. I've tried so many practices and solutions to my problems and conditions and now I feel hopeless and helpless.

Thanks for your response.

I don't know Sistah. I looked at the Capacitar website. It just looks like a collection of the same old stuff to me. I guess some people swear by this sort of thing. Personally, I have a rather jaded view of it. (Can you tell?) I've done yoga & Tai Chi & mindfulness meditation, etc. It's all very nice! But, for me, at the end of the day, I still have all of the same old problems.

Having said that, I do try to follow the basic principles set out by the Buddhist nun Pema Chodron. They're helpful. (If you're not familiar with her, there are many vid's on YouTube of talks that she's given.) But I won't stop taking my meds as a result. So, I would say: give some of that stuff a try. It can't hurt. It may even help! But don't throw away your meds in the process.
