Hi, Luna1975. I'm sorry this diagnosis has you upset. You have to remember you have bipolar illness but it is not who you are. I'm bipolar 1 and am right now very depressed, however, that could change at anytime. Your anger, the feeling of being stuck and feeling alone or very normal for bipolars. I assume you have seen a psychiatrist since you have been diagnosed. Being diagnosed can be a good thing because it gives the doctor a direction to take with your treatment. Hopefully, you will also get a therapist that will help you learn to manage your mood swings.

Psych Central also has a great Bipolar forum. You might want to check it out. Look forward to seeing you around the forums.

Luna, I am sorry you are having a hard time right now. You will come out of it, and be able to deal with being bi-polar. I know, I was once where you were. I would also take Gayle's advice and poke your nose around the bi-polar forum. We really do support one another.

Don't worry, "Bi-polar" is just a label. That label can be applied to anyone who has feelings!

Umm ThunderBow - bipolar cannot be applied to everyone! That's rather dismissive and invalidating to those of us who do deal with it. Even though I know you were trying to be helpful!

Luna: I am sorry to hear that you're struggling and are feeling angry with the diagnosis! You are definitely not alone though, but I understand how that feels. It's really confusing trying to work out who we are when we don't really understand how our bipolar works (as it really is different for each of us). I hope you'll be able to accept it at some point - personally (and this is so very personal and not true for everyone), I had accepted things before I went for the diagnosis. I found it comforting to know that I'm not just a moody b**** and that I'm not imagining things - that there actually IS a reason why I slowly shift into a different person as my mood shift happens. Once I understood that then I was able to learn how to cope and accept myself. It's nice to know that you've found your way to PC - I find the bipolar forum really helpful and comforting!

I am not much into labels. What would happen, if people found out they did not have a label on them? How would you feel if you could not be labeled with any condition?

it's an interesting question, but im pretty sure that a lot of people would say, pretty good

i mean... ask the entire forum community- how many people on the forum actually like having a label?

i am sure not many
