Self-Punishment is something I never could understand. Why do some of us punish and scold ourselves like it's our fault. Whereas a person like me someone says that its my fault that I have frustration/anger issues when I don't have to. Some say I am rude and selfish to people and think of no one but myself and that I should think of other people besides myself. I guess I am going to make everyone happy ahead of myself. I should put other people first before myself.

I self-punish all the time, especially when it comes to how I treat people, or if I felt I handled a situation incorrectly.
Your happiness matters, however. Self preservation is seen as rude do to social formalities instilled in us from a young age. People think caring for yourself makes you selfish, when in reality some of us don't have others caring for us as we'd like, so we play the role.
