My moods are insane. In the last few months or so, they have been shifting from a 10 to a 0 every few hours with no pattern whatsoever. It's always something tiny (like trying on a dress I don't look good in; it can make me want to curl up in a ball and sleep for days even though I had felt indestructible and on top of things all afternoon), or sometimes nothing at all (I'll be sitting alone at home doing nothing and suddenly 'switch'). I suppose it could be hormones, but I am pretty much out of my teenagehood and have never had such unstable emotions before. My moods fit perfectly into the description of bipolar disorder's mania/depression, but they change way too fast for that to be the cause... What could it be?

I would get a check up with a gp first and find out about your homone leves, etc. Then if they find nothing wrong there, I would get a psychatric eval. Good luck. Mood swings are no fun, I'm experienced.

Having moved from CA to the NE ten years ago I can tell you they are real! Although I do wonder if part of it is doing less activity - as I'm much less inclined to be outside in the cold weather.
After several years my fix has been to make sure I get out and at least walk a little every day, and stop eating sugar if I can help it! :-) I'm convinced that the moods that sugar bring, along with the inactivity and darkness all contribute to borderline depression for me. |
