Lately I have suffered from really being attacked by my family. I have really tried to respond well but inside I am seething. It is hurting me physically. My head and throughout my body I feel real physical pain. I have an appointment coming up to hopefully get some help. Right now I hurt so much I just hope to make it. I can't imagine why these folks would decide that now is a good time to get at me when we are soon facing my husband's heart surgery. I want to be a support for him and they are undermining me which of course affects my husband too. I feel so angry I can't speak to them. Truly wounded!

stress is so draining, sometimes anger is a counter-response to despair. i find the energy it gives is better than none. i hope you find a way to use your anger to your advantage.

there is a post in this forum on self-soothing skills, that might be of use to you:

I'm glad you are going to see someone and hope it can help you release some of your anger. Is there anyway to avoid these people in the mean time? Putting some distance between you might help. I'm sorry to hear your husband is going to have to have surgery, but I do hope everything goes well. Concentrate on the two of you and try to put the others out of your mind.

I can see the connection to despair as I struggle to have contact. Maybe some space and time will be helpful. Feel pitiful to be so deeply affected.

I couldn't stand staying silent. I wrote but kindly. Oh to have not had this going on at this time. It hurts too much.
