To make it clear, I have NEVER tried marijuana. I've never touched an illegal substance, I'm far too scared. A lot of the time when I talk about my anxiety and depression, my friends, even some adults, suggest smoking marijuana.

I've been around friends who smoke it and who have offered it to me. Last time my friends did it, I was really depressed, they said it would help me, but I just walked away from them. We were at a waterfall so I sat on the edge of this big rock and just sat there. They came over to me after a while and were.. not themselves, and it scared me.. I thought they were going to slip off the rock.

Is this even true, does it actually help? They just looked loony. I don't want to hurt my brain, it's already messed up..

Again, I don't plan on doing it. The idea of altering my reality makes me very anxious. But everyone says I should stop being a baby and try it because it's the "only known cure for depression."

I kinda doubt that last part.. but I wanted to see what other people might say.

Hello, Emma8432. There a many articles that discuss the use of medical marijuana. The pros and cons are thoroughly debated. This article is perhaps a more balanced discussion:

How does pot affect depression, bipolar? - CNN.com

I wish you well.

Hey, Emma, I have never tried marijuana. I certainly wouldn't think it would be the "only cure for depression." It just sort of takes folks temporarily away from dealing with their issues and can ultimately lead to a lack of motivation. My thoughts anyway.

I think anyone who tries to talk, push, force, belittle, berate and/or bully you into doing something you aren't comfortable with is NOT a friend ...

Nor are they worthy of your time, space and company.

I think it would be a mistake to try something you are not comfortable with. Pot can cause anxiety and even paranoia for some people. I've smoked in the past but not for a couple years.

I found it made an excellent sleep aid.

As for helping depression. It can be a very fine line helping and hurting. A lot can be fully dependent on the person and the frame of mind that person is in when they smoke so no one can say for certain if it will help you.

If you don't feel comfortable with it please don't feel forced to do it. That sort of situation is rife for a negative effect.
