where do you even begin to tell someone that you are depressed? how much should you say, at what time and how should you word it in a way to not make someone else feel uncomfortable? it's taken a lot of courage to even begin talking about it to my family how do i break out and start telling my closest friends that i'm acting a certain way because of this?

Well, you could ask them if they seem to have noticed any changes in your behavior, and if they say, "Yes," then you can tell them that you have been dealing with some depression.
