"Your Thoughts Control Your Emotions- Anyone Who Can Control Their Thoughts- Can Control Their Emotions Attaining Self-Control." I Was Told, People Express Pain in 2 Ways: Sadness(Crying)Depression -or- Anger(violence)Abusive. "To Respond is With Logic (correct with a clear mind) and To React is With Emotions (incorrect, outburst of anger or uncontrollable sadness, crying and so forth). Most People Get Mad When They Do Not Get Their Way. Or They Turn Their Wish's into Commands or Demands. Than Some People from Their 20's-60's Seem To Insist or Choose To Be An Angry, Negative Stressful Person. Your Thought's? ![]() |

I certainly agree. I know anger actually is an emotion we express when there are actually other emotions present, such as fear, frustration, and yes, hurt. We need to try to figure out why we are angry and deal with the underlying emotion.
And counting to ten before responding is a way to help bring anger under control, too. ![]() |

You cannot control your emotions and your thoughts initially pop up, aren't "controlled" either. Yes, we have a thought and then we can control what we do with it but we cannot control whether we have a thought or not. We can only control our actions. Reading "pink elephants" makes you think about pink elephants
![]() All emotions are helpful and necessary. However, emotions and thoughts are not "real" but individual, arising from inside us, not from "out there" in the world/other people. Yes, we think about what we feel, words are necessary for everything we do and we cannot get away from them, we even think about what we think ![]() Anger tells us we feel someone has taken something important of ours and we want it back. People get confused between feeling anger and how to think about and express it out in the world. Anger is just feeling hurt and the desire to stand up for one's self rather than just roll over in depression (anger turned inward) or feelings of helplessness. I sometimes misplace my anger; get road rage, for example, instead of feeling helpless like when I learned a friend had cancer. Because I do not normally get road rage, I was able to stop and think about what was making me feel helpless (which makes the road rage go away) and the circumstances and find support for myself (other people were friends with my friend and they all felt sad too, I was not alone). If I had recognized the feeling of helplessness sooner and dealt with it, I might not have "needed" the dangerous road rage (I tried to cut someone off) to get my attention that I had something I needed to deal with.
