Has anyone ever felt totally consumed with obsession for someone? Like you feel powerless and subdued around them? You don't know why but you just do. And it's driving you mad?

YES - all four years of high school and 5 years with a psychiatrist. I'd go over and over in my head conversations I had with the person, conversations I planned on having, looking around to see if I'd run in to the person. Is this what you're talking about or is yours different? Drove me mad too. Finally got involved in truer relationships, ones where you know and care about the other person, and the other person knows and cares about you. I don't think obsessions are based on who the person really is, but more some perfect love that doesn't exist. I guess we obsess because it is unobtainable.

Thanks for this!

I definitely had to see a therapist for my obsession.
It became very painful for me to continue my obsessive thought process.
I certainly learned a lot about myself & how my past is influencing me.
That's just me.
