I posted this thread in the Self-Injury forum last year, and recently updated it so new members could see it but I'd thought I'd share in here too since it can help you cope with any emotion, anxiety, anger, stress, depression

What you do is get a box and fill it with things that can help you cope.

My box will have the following (mine is focused mainly on anxiety):

Puzzle Book
Coloring Books for adults
Stress Ball
Therapy Tangle Toy for stress relief
Deck of cards
Book of inspirational quotes
Worry stone
Reminder to listen to relaxing songs on iPod
Printed relaxation techniques

I'm currently getting stuff a little at a time, next month I will have a coloring book and a deck of cards.

I found a nice wooden box on Amazon to put this stuff in. Share your ideas, post pics if you want.

I will post pics of mine once it's complete

I've been thinking of making a box lately, but haven't done it yet. Some things I would put in my box: - notebook & pens (for writing poems) - my journal - my worry stone (& some other stones & crystals) - a small candle to light & meditate on the flame - mp3 player - blank papers & markers / coloring pencils - my small photo album - a handful of my favorite books - a list to myself of accomplishments / things I do right - something small and soft to feel (tiny stuffed animal?) ... And I'll think of more later.
Now I want to make my box tonight, this is a good idea.
Thanks for this!

I think my iPad is my box. I paint on it. Read and watch movies, play solitaire, read about ways I can help myself, download quotes and pictures that encourage. I make posters on it that describe my struggles or encouragements. I listen to music write letters and look through the newspaper. What a box it is!
Thanks for this!

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
