I hope this is in the correct place. If not sorry. ;-(
I have a dog. Her name is Miscellaneous and I love her beyond belief. I've always said "she is me and I am she" and it's been that way for 12 years now. Last month she wasnt doing well so off to the vet, whom I trust with "our" lives. A few degenerative things but ok. Last Friday Miss became quite ill, pain, throwing up and the runs. I brought her in and they kept her there for IVs etc. I don't know how to explain the emotions but they were CRAZY!! I wasn't thinking she would die..in fact now I can't remember any thoughts. Just a huge terrible horrible empty feeling. At one point it scared me so much that I thought I needed the psych ward and called the clinic. A kind nurse told me that it was OK to feel so horrible and that I was not insane because this little ball of fluff, my life was so important to me. I would cry and cry and mumble please don't hurt please dont hurt and wait for me to come be with her. The nurse asked if there was anyone to be with me...and guess what??? There was NO ONE!!! To make a long story short, Miss got to come home saturday and seems to be doing ok. She has pancreaitis so who knows if this will take her. What kills me..ok 2 things. Is it normal to become that emotionally crazy about a pet?? and why do I have no support system?? Think I will come back here often and see if that can be remedied. Thank you for listening |

i have a dog, a beagle, and a cat. we've lost several pets throughout the years, from old age, and i completely understand what you are going through. it is psycologically draining to worry about losing a pet. whenever we lost one we would get another one to take it's place. there are actually places like pet cemetaries where you could place them after they pass away. i don't mean to scare you, but just trying to give you some comfort for when and if your pet passes on. i don't know about how to find someone to talk about your loss or worries but maybe the vet? I know our vet has several assistants that are there for people dealing with such situations. i'll pray for your pet, and give them love and comfort!!

Sorry, your doggie is ill. I hope she will feel better soon.
As Avlady says, yes yes and yes. You can feel this for a pet. People love a lot their dogs. Pets as dogs or cats have a quiet developed brain, and they interact with us with a great ability. A dog is like another member of the family. I understand that in your case, you being alone, the conection, the affection is even stronger. I remember when I were alone and isolated at home, my careless and affection for my pets was very strong and I hadn't a dog or a cat, I had a duck or a bird. I had nothing else or noone else to express my affection with. Look at my avatar. They are Perla and Miky. I love them so badly. They are my joy, my friends, my kids. Anyway, you realized that you are alone. So, it maybe time for you to look for human friends as well. I wish you luck for you and your doggie. |
