We can hope for better luck in the future yeah? My main point is really regarding food stamps. If you can get food stamps. Get it. If you are making a low wage you may still be able to get food stamps. There should be no reason to starve. Hell if it makes those highly against getting food stamps think of it like this. There is enough food in the world to feed everyone and we tend to have a lot of food go bad.

A bit off track from the original thread title.

You have to have a VERY low income or none to qualify for assistance of any sort. I never qualified for anything

Well, always worth a shot. I mean you can't be making that much if you work and work and then if you lost your job you would starve. Then in that case you could just apply anyway at that point because- no income.

I am not saving. True. Due to budget cuts and salary reduction, high bills, debt, raised a kid alone, now having to travel far as my daughter lives far plus I recently became a victim of a scam (talked in other threads) and lost most of my savings ect etc plus I suck at managing money

But I am a high school teacher with a graduate degree. Pretty sure I don't qualify for food stamps. Haha I am not starving just struggling as most of my colleagues

As about starving most people wouldn't survive if they didn't work as they wouldn't have money to buy food. It is not unique. That's a reason people work: to buy food and roof over their heads and other stuff (it is important to love your job but not the only reason we work) you seem to look at working as something unusual. It is not. Most people work

I know a lot work. More to make them feel like their lives have meaning. Not working can cause one to feel depressed. I'm just saying public assistance isn't just for those who are at rock bottom. You can probably go to a food pantry. It's not food stamps but it's an option for people who don't have a lot to get food. I prefer to have a small stockpile.

however don't be fooled, working doesn't make your depression disappear. it can be a temporary relief!

Don't get discouraged. It will take you a while to get in the routine of things. Keep plugging along and you will be proud of yourself.

Good job steiner! im new here but everyone seems so supportive thats great.
It always takes some time to adapt to a new job and in time you will adjust just fine.
Don't focus on the bad things about the job most people don't LOVE what they do but focus on what u can do now that u have the job. keep looking forward!
Thanks for this!
