Emotional trauma can stir things up the mind is not prepared to deal with. Numbing or shutting down can be the result.

Here is an article at Psych Central about the heart brain connection or search in the search box on the page linked to below (not the mid page but upper right search box)

Sorry to hear about your struggles. Knowing the likely cause gives you a focus point which should make it easier to start on your road to recovery. Visit your doctor and ask their advice or search for local clinics that may offer services. Schools typically offer services as well. Good luck on finding your heart again.

If there was only a switch I could flip at will. ): I'm on a waiting list to see pdoc and a therapist who specializes in trauma. Unfortunately it might not be in time enough to save my marriage. ):

Have you researched any of the blogs and articles here for any exercises you can work on in the mean time? Just the idea of working towards a solution can be enough in the short-term. There are so many helpful articles at PC and I hope you can find one that meets your needs.
