I am not qualified to offer a diagnosis but it sounds like you may have gone through a trauma of some sorts and your mate is triggering that.
Some people at Psych Central choose a therapist to untie the knows in their life. If the feelings stay ready to explode, a psychiatrist could diagnose your situation and prescribe meds to stabilize the situation and lessen the emotional charges building up. Many people find compassionate, caring people here at PC. Some people find the forums give them the compassion and empathy they seek. http://forums.psychcentral.com There are articles that go into more detail about coping Psych Central - Trusted mental health, depression, bipolar, ADHD & psychology information. Don't ignore your feelings, there must be a reason - don't cover them up but find the source so that you can deal with it and put it behind you hopefully. Emotions exist for a reason, we are not robots.

I find talking with someone else who can be trusted is helpful. Do you have a friend, mentor, teacher, pastor, etc. who could talk to you...and more importantly - listen to you?
