I sometimes really feel a little bit anxious when I try and communicate what I need with my partner. It is not over the top anxiety but just more like the feeling of butterflies in my stomach when I know I want to bring up something with him. I would like him to take a slight bit more interest in what I do and also I am working on showing my interest in his activities. I am just wondering how I get past the feeling of having slight nerves or is this normal.

At first it's normal for every relationship I've been in. You're getting a feel for their personality totally understandable. If you feel like you HAVE to do it later in the relationship and it's like walking on eggshells that's a problem.

Thank you Keyslost. This makes sense. I agree with what you have said.

If it's just "slight", that's not bad unless it gets progressively worse. I get that way with my partner because I'm trying to hide my social anxiety issues from her (and everyone else). My ex-t suggested total honesty with her, but I'm not sure if I'm ready for that yet, even though she's very understanding and compassionate. I have told her about my past addiction issues.
