I saw a picture on Facebook yesterday that said "I'm that friend that has to walk behind the group when the path isn't big enough. I'm that friend that gets cut off in the conversation. I'm that friend that gets left behind when I asked them to wait for me. I'm that friend that doesn't get invited to hang out a lot. I'm that friend who if I want to go to the mall or some place with a friend I have to be the one to invite people to make sure I get included. I'll always be that friend." This is so true for me. When reading this I could not believe how accurate it was. Do my friends actually like me or just tolerate me? If they like me why do they put in no effort? It's like they are greater than me, but I keep tying because I am lonely and because I believe it, they are greater than me.

I can offer what I've observed in my own life. I noticed that after college, the group of friends that I had did not act like this. They were more adult, more considerate, and didn't consider it okay or "cool" to be hurtful towards other people in the group.

I'm not trying to speak for everyone, but I think that often it just takes time for people to grow up and leave behind certain group behaviors. People will often behave worse in a group than they will as individuals.
