I have a hard time discussing my feelings openly. I often feel I don't know what to say, especially if I'm mad. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, and I'd like to find a new way to express my emotions without the fear of hurting someone's feelings.

Hello there, hmm, how about doing something creative or art based to help with the emotions and feelings.

Hope all is well with you.
Thanks for this!

I'll try that. I do sometimes write in an e-diary but I haven't written a poem in ages, which is something I've missed doing. Thanks for the advice. I'll try to reply back with how it goes.

I also have a hard time expressing myself. I have often thought about writing my feelings down as poems or songs, but lack any ability or talent to do so.

That would be cool, definitely lets us know how it goes, even share it with us if you feel comfortable doing so =)

If/when you can, give it a try. I hope it helps with expressing your emotions. Plus it's something that is written down and therefore you can return to it whenever you feel down or when you have a hard time expressing yourself.

It's nothing special really.

Finally!
I can spread my wings!
I'm finally free!
No longer held down
By doubt
Or guilt.
No longer letting
Anger get in my way.
I'm not afraid to
Show my true colors.
I don't have to worry
About what others think.
I can sing
And dance
With joy.
I can be happy
Knowing I'm no longer afraid.
I am happy!
I can spread my wings!
I'm finally free!
Thanks for this!

I can relate. Very nice poem, nice work! I shut down especially when I'm mad...always have. I just don't know how to tell someone how I feel without sitting down and thinking about it. Try writing letters to the person who is getting you upset. Thats, what I do and it helps me to express my feelings so I can slow down and think about how I want to word things and say the exact thing I want to say rather than getting caught off guard and being flustered and not being able to speak.
