A few months ago I had two small dogs given to me by my Mother's friend who found them running around on his land. They were very scared and very skinny. They didn't like people but you could just tell they really wanted to trust people again.
I've worked with them and given them all my love and they've really come around. They are healthy, very happy and out going dogs now. However I seemed to have formed some over attachment to them. Like if I leave the house I almost want to turn around and go back home to them. I feel like something bad might happen to them while I'm not there. I still live with my Mom and I know she can watch them and take care of them but I feel like I need to be there for them. I think I might be reflecting my own feelings on to them. I was left to fend for myself and no one was ever there for me. I feel like I need to be there for them. Some what of an insane thought but that's the only reasoning I can come up with. |

WillowWolf, you are identifying your feelings with the dogs. You are empathzing with them. It happens Now that you realize they feel the way you DID, now they feel safe and no longer fear of being alone or abandoned. Look at the dogs as a gift to see what you were feeling and now have overcome. It is healing for the both of you. And enjoy PC. Welcome.
