Im really concerned about joining a new group at my program for young adults i dont generally get along with people my age causevwe have nothing in common. There into anime and games im not.they have jobs and cars and some even kids i dont, there in or have been in relationships. And i feel im going to cry in the bathroom. The social worker started talking like a shrink and said what evidence do i have it wont work out i couldn't come up with a counter statement i gave in i know this will be terrible plus they want us to spend out of pocket for events and stuff i only get 20 to 40 dollars a week out of my disability check to spend personally not a lot of money to spend on myself and these events

I can completely understand your hesitation given that there are differences between you and the other participants. That can really make it hard to try something new, especially when there's so much uncertainty around it.
What are you specifically supposed to get out of this program? Is it the type of thing where you'll be learning? Is it primarily social? It may be difficult to think about socializing with people who have difference experiences than you do. I'd like to encourage you to give it a try for one reason: being around people, no matter who they are, is healthy and is worth pursuing. You may feel over time like you're getting a benefit from the program that you weren't anticipating. As far as the money goes, that's more concerning to me. Have you spoken to the social worker about this specifically? There may be something she can do about that so that you can at least give the program a shot. |

They just might be the wrong kind of group for you, thus a waste of your money. If your worker wants you involved in a Youth Group, ask her to find a better one for you.
