Good day Community, first and foremost my deepest thoughts and prayers to the people of Paris,France, I am overwhelmed and have exhausted myself with DBT skill usage to try to regulate my emotions in the past 48hrs seeing as how I have an issue with catastrophizing thoughts on a daily basis anyway, i'm doing a lot of distracting and self care but, felt the need to reach out to the Community to see if maybe there were other suggestions that might help calm my brain!!! I pray for peace and safety and unity, that's what the world needs now

Limit your exposure to the news media. They over rate those "Ain't It Awful" stories because they sell, thus boosting ratings, Sometimes they do more harm than good by doing this. Thus calm your mind with meditation, being outdoors, doing something that makes you feel good, and keep the TV and media off_.
Thanks for this!

Agreed. It can be very overwhelming. Keeping up on what's going on in the world is good, but don't watch too much or read too much about it. I hardly ever watch the news except in the morning before work. They always focus on the negative, and repeat the same things over and over again.

I think it's very important to be knowledgable of current events but there is a point it becomes over kill. Limit your exposure. Focus on what is going well.
