I have a tendency to avoid people from my past. I don't keep in touch with them on facebook or in real life. When I accidently meet someone,I am trying to run away or seem very uninterested. I have lost many friendships due to this. In reality I am not a rude person and a very loyal friend and that's why people do inquire after me after all these years. Why am I feeling this way??
I am doing well in life and should be proud of myself. But I am not. Most people think I am acting this way because I am better than them.I feel such shame and sadness inside me when I meet friends from school and college that I never want to face them. I did not have any bad experience like traumatic when in school or college . This is causing me a lot of stress and even though I feel lonely and want friends, I don't respond when they do come forward. How can I solve this?? |

Why do you think that you tend to avoid people who are your friends? Do you have an avoidant personality or are you embarssed about some aspect of yourself that you don't want others to notice? It's hard to give you an answer w/o knowing more about this.

I think I have a lot of shame.Even though I may have done mostly well,I'd feel shame about the small thing I did not perform well. So I feel so much shame about everything in life.Maybe I'm trying to hide that from everyone.

Do you mean they know embarrassing things about you? or just because you didn't do somethings as well as you expected, and you are afraid they will know?

Maybe it is best to avoid people who misjudge you. Chose who you want to have as friends with out shame.
