Hello
My name is Mark and I'm 17.

So there is a problem with my behaviour I guess.
I find myself really empathetic, I mean I understand people's emotions very well. I can understand someone's feelings just by watching his/her eyes, movements and so on.
I had a bad period the last year but my psychiatrists helped me and everything is gone now, I mean I live my life normally now.

The problem is that I am empathetic but also apathetic. I can understand someone's feelings, I can also be sad or happy for someone. BUT at the same time I look apathetic, I do not show any emotions while listening to someone or while I think. BUT I laugh very often, even without some reasons. And I FEEL emotions. I just auomatically dont show them.

But I sometimes do not feel sadness or feelings at all. For example: my uncle died and I wasn't sad, nor was I happy. I tried to look sad but it's not really working. My grandpa is dying and I do not feel anything. No sadness, no happiness. Weird...

Also, I have noticed that people are "not comfortable" when I watch right in their eyes while listening or talking to them. I asked a friend and he said:
"People feel uncomfortable with you because you do not show any emotion. You are calm, just like me"

Now my question is: Why am I empathetic with most of the people but with some I am not? I mean, I really liked my uncle. But I just continued as always.
also, why do I look this apathetic? I like talking with other people, but i cant even look at them while talking because I look emotionless.

Thank you

No you are not apathetic. Sometimes it takes time for greif to settle in. Allow yourself time to feel.

Yes, it truly is okay to feel....The fact that you are on here is a good sign you care, that you notice and WANT a standard for yourself that is acceptable....I don't think in this case you are beating yourself up....Some people are just different don't allow what another person's, or yourself to define what that should look like......If asked you wouldn't be rude or uncaring? Right? Then, that is all you have to worried about. There are props that can help cards, phone calls, flowers, a helping hand that can aid you in how you feel.

Oh well to be honest yes, I do not care most of the time. But I understand how people around me feel. But I do not care if they arent real close friends or family members.
sometimes I find myself stuck at school, I look out without feeling anything at all. I also noticed I almost never felt sadness the last months, or if I felt it, it was really lower than before.
I also am bored everytime except when I stay with friends.

I never feel like I am happy or sad, but I laugh when something is funny. Still, I get bored again and get serious automatically

But at the same time I was usually sad when a family member was sad, even if I dont feel this "sadness" anymore now

too long to write everything ill just stop here

thank you

You may have common depression. If it gets worse see a therapist. But all and all, you seem quite normal to me.

Is this friend an older friend? You are only 17 years old what are they expecting... I would have taken that a blow to your confidence unless he was a little older. If a female you just have to consider females are different than males. I would be depressed on just that statement from a friend...I don't follow your post on here on so maybe you are depressed I'm sure, honestly you seem fine to me
