I just have to get this out there. I've been feeling numb, as if my emotions have just completely left my body. I haven't really had a good cry in weeks, but I haven't been overly joyful either, I just feel like a lump on a log if that makes any sense. There was a part of me that felt as if my going home for Thanksgiving would make things better, but I feel it has only made things worse, and now I'm dreading going home for Christmas in a few weeks. Think I'll just go back to bed and maybe I won't wake up. I'm tired of feeling this way and just want it all to stop.

I often wish I could just sleep my way through something and then wake up on the other side of whatever, but I also know that feeling of being like a mere bump on a log or someone everyone else will have to (or might likely) just step on around so they can keep going...and then last night I almost fell back into the trap of tolerating some abuse from someone in order to have some otherwise-welcomed conversation. Today I am back to semi-numb, but I do have a small meaningful project I can do for my wife. So as best you might be able, just keep trying to do the next right thing in front of you while knowing you are not alone and that others of us really do care.

All I wanna do is lay in bed. I really need to be doing laundry and going grocery shopping

I wish it were that simple. I've already got a plane ticket to fly home and I can't just simply cancel

How about changing it to another city, and spend the holiday there? Or if you feel that committed to them, them stay in a hotel not in their house.
