My husband has been having fits of rage mostly directed at me. This morning he was berating me about not watching the dog. He focused on how much I sleep and how awful it is to be married to someone who sleeps 13-14 hours a day. I only actually sleep about 12, but still it's caused by meds and I can't help it. Besides it the closest I can get to death. I'm only at peace when I'm asleep, so I like sleeping.

He went way overboard this morning and I'm angry. He seems to be loosing his temper a lot lately. I think he needs to see a counselor, but he doesn't.

This is just a rant. Thanks for listening.

For those who don't have it, it's hard to understand mental illness.. I'm sorry you have to put up with such behavior

I think you are right about him needing therapy more than you. I am sorry; he sounds very traumatizing. Please be careful about staying safe. And Mickey is right--some people are not very understanding about MI. <<<hugs>>>

Try not to think about this desire to sleep with being a desire for death. It's good that you have articulated that though. The reason you prefer to sleep is more about how you get a break from the stress of dealing with life and how overwhelming it can get for you.

I have that challenge myself and my husband can most definitely add to the challenge because he can also get angry and frustrated. Your husband is frustrated, he probably has a deep desire to "fix" and he is at a loss.

Mental illness takes a toll on a person physically, it's exhausting to try to help "self" when it comes to the stress and anxiety of dealing with the challenge of a mental illness.
It requires a lot more patience then the average person understands.

Yes, your husband would benefit from having a therapist help him with this challenge so he doesn't feel so alone with it.
Thanks for this!

I'm so sorry, gayleggg. I agree with you - your husband needs counseling. An anger management group would probably help him. And you.

Sorry to hear that about your husband. That's an awful thing to go through. Been there, done that.
