My father passed away three weeks ago. Every holiday, bday, etc my in laws and Dad have spent together because of grandchildren. The day before my Dad's service my MIL spent day at amusement park with brother in laws family. She was "too tired" to attend funeral. I was so upset. Can't believe she couldn't come and sit in a chair to be there for me and her three grandchildren. I guess I know my position in this family but I cannot let go of this anger. My husband is also upset but has been to visit them. I have kept my distance. How do I get over this and move on?

Shill66, some people can't handle funerals. It doesn't mean they disrespect or don't care either. Just something you might think about.

First, I am soo very sorry about your loss ((((BIG HUGS))))). I am sure this is a most difficult time for you, where emotions and upset run high. Perhaps give it some time to settle, then like Jennifer suggested, maybe you could approach her to talk about it. Holding grudges does only hurt you, in the end. And it is true, that everyone handles grief differently. Maybe she just couldn't handle it. You could gently ask her reasons for not going and let her know that it upset you. There's nothing wrong with talking about it with her, when the time feels right. Sending another big hug!!!
