I suffer from AvPD, OCD, and ADHD but my biggest issue comes from AvPD because i always end up pushing people away when they get to close to me emotionally from being afraid of what they will think when they get to know me better. At the same time i want someone to get close and not listen to me trying to push them away. Does that make sense? I want to be close but for some reason i just can't let anybody try and because of this i seem very cold and sometimes sporadic in my emotional reactions to people. My mindset is that if i don't show my feelings on my face and appear cold instead then people will not try to emotionally attach as much My family thinks i am stoic and emotionally detached and that i don't care about them. My question is what can i do to show my family (because i want to get close to them) that i have feelings and that i care about them in a way that doesn't involve me actually going up to them and telling them?

Perhaps you can try to share some time with them, try some activities together, ecc. or helping them out when they need it.

Do you see a therapist? I think it might be helpful to work through these issues.

Yes, I can try to get them together to play a board game or something, good idea. They aren't a very social bunch so i dont know if they will want to. No i don't see a therapist, i've never seen the appeal in one. I mostly just stick to things like forums.

You family is being a little judgmental with each other. Seems like everyone is holding back as a result.
