Our family dog bit my one year old in the face yesterday. It wasn't vicious but he still got him below his eye. So we're taking him to be destroyed. Its hard for all of us because we love him but he's my husbands dog above all and he's had him since he was 16.
Everyone is overwhelmed. Not asking for advice, just kinda venting. >.< |

Your dog may have been jealous of your baby. Is your dog typically vicious or a biter with people? If not, consider taking him to live with someone else. Whatever you choose and is done, I'm sorry.

I'm sorry. It could be that your son pulled his tail or hurt him in some way. If the dog is not in poor health, then it would be good if he could be given to someone else who doesn't have young children.

No Tainche my our pit had been rehomed four times before my husband got him for 'attacking' but he was getting really old. My one year old just came up to give him a hug which is something all my kids have always done and I think it was an accident, he didn't hurt him he just kinda snapped. He had never bitten any humans while we had him and he was such a good dog.
We knew we were going to have to put him down soon, he was getting to the point where it was hard for him to walk. He lived a good life, I'm just upset it had to end up like this... now my one year old can't even open his eye it's so swollen. Doc's gonna put him on antibiotic's. I know Tainche wasn't a mean or aggressive dog, he was just old and I think he just reacted. I don't blame him, I just wish it never happened. |

I am so sorry but as hard as the decision was, I think you have made the right one. My heart goes out to you and your husband.

As a dog lover my heart aches for you and your husband. I know it wasnt a easy choice to make. I hope your son makes a full recovery from the bite. Hugs

Oh, that's tough! So sorry for the whole situation. What a terrible spot to be in.

I know you will miss him, but it sounds like he had a good life with your family. Hope your son's face will heal soon and he won't be traumatized by the experience.
