I was told this afternoon by someone I don't know anything about theme parks

for those that don't know, that is not something you say around me.

finding out about theme parks and their rides is a compultion of mine

so In sted of just letting it slide, or letting him off by saying something I'm like I'm not in the mood, I sat their for a whole hour listing all the rides in 4 major theme parks, all their stats, the area of the park they are in, and how long they last

at the end I'm like.. are you ****ing happy now?. do you want me to draw you a ****ing map?

I wish sometimes I can just... you know, relax about these things.

but I can't

I do know stuff about theme parks and that person's started a war with me now

Yeah I do silly things like this sometimes and wonder why do I let people get to me. Lately I have tried to “practice” saying either nothing or asking the person why they said what they said. It’s hard. I tend to speak my mind so keeping quiet doesn’t come natural to me. Changing a behavior takes time. With practice I think it’s possible to slow this down so it doesn’t happen as often or to the same extreme. Try not to be too hard on yourself when it happens... I’m terribly hard on myself and it tends to just make things worse.

Was it really about theme parks or going in for the kill because you found their statement insulting to you? Was it the manner in which it was said to you?

yes I speak my mind too

it just annoys me

I do know things about theme parks- I know a lot about theme parks

and to be told I don't... it makes me want to scream

it's like going up to a super fan of a singer and being told you don't know anything about that singer

and I am going to draw him the map

for peace of mind..

Sounds like this person knew they could get to you. Either that or they’re an idiot who just doesn’t know any better. Either way, you know what you know and nobody can take that from you. why do simple things wind me up so much. *sighs*
Thanks for this!

Have there been times when you could stop yourself, when you could let something slide, when you could relax? If so, how did you do it?
