so I don't know how to explain this.. but I keep getting anxieties that the characters in tv series and movies, are real- not just people playing them
using an example: mufasa's death sceen in the lion king is obviously a really sad sceen but, everytime I see it, I keep thinking that mufasa is mufasa, he's not... what his name, james someone I think. everytime I watch a tv series/ movie, I feel so sorry for the people who die, or get injured, what ever- not because I'm enjoying the movie, but because I'm convinced that those people are those people... not actors and they should have never been their in that situation, because it ends badly for them make sense? |

You get deeply moved by seeing certain difficult things in movies etc. You can deeply empathize and identify with certain emotional things portrayed in movies, that's not a bad thing. We are after all emotional beings.

It sounds like you're empathizing a lot with them. Do you have death related trauma? Did someone you love die and it greatly affected you? It's possible you're transferring to the character.
I used to have anxiety about seeing women do a lot of domestic labor on TV because it reminded me of how the women in my family were taken advantage of and used for domestic labor. When you feel better, examine that and see if you are transferring. I'm the meantime, do self care, and see if you can read ahead to see if a character dies, and you can maybe fast forward through the scene until you feel like you can handle it. |
