I'm trying to get into the habit of practicing these, but it can be hard. Sometimes I get really distracted, especially because of my ADHD.
I did a lot better today. I was able to meditate for 13 minutes while exhausted. I was proud of myself. But yesterday went a little bit like this: Guided Voice: Now, become aware of your physical surroundings and slowly open your eyes. Me: *Eyes already open. Slurps soup absentmindedly while listening to the voice * ...I could have done way better. I find that I meditate better while lying down. It's easy to become uncomfortable and stop meditating while sitting up cross-legged. Anyone else practice meditation and mindfulness? If so, do you use apps, YouTube? Guided or unguided meditations? Also, does anyone use Youper or Wysa for therapy? I find that they help a lot for when you don't have a therapist. They don't take the place of a real one, but they do a good job. |

I think mindfulness is something honed over time.
As far as guided meditation, not really, not for not appreciating its value or anything but it evokes this old memory of childhood when my dad went through this New Age phase in life and the part of relaxing limb for limb brings out a memory of then envision this white light and cover yourself with it memory. I do better with more zen like stillness than anything. Although the last couple of times, I only realized that I needed more sleep in my life Enoch is true. |

Meditation is an extended practice of mindfulness. I find this video series really helps me.
I am glad there is sharing going on about mindfulness. What other threads are people subscribed to about mindfulness at Psych Central? There is this Social Group https://forums.psychcentral.com/grou...editation.html __________________ Super Moderator Community Support Team "Things Take Time" |

Yes that helps me a lot. If you want more just search on youtube for Jon kabat Zinn Mindfulness and there are dozens of short videos and over 100 I guess just from him.

Thank you very much for the link CANDC! I started my own meditation via Youtube guided videos several months ago. However, sometimes I feel I need more background info or more of a structured program or even a guide. I am already finding that it helps me with anxiety and depression but I would like to learn as much as possible. Thanks again! |

It doesn't matter if you get distracted ten, fifty, ninety times. When you notice the distraction and return to the breath, you are doing well. |

I discovered guided mediation a couple weeks ago and love it! I use YouTube guided mediations. My fave 2 are meditation vacation and Jason Stephenson. (Guess it’s the accents) It has done wonders for my anxiety

I guess I should go on YouTube to look for more meditations then. For the most part, I look for meditation apps in the Goolge Play store, which are all great, but I like variety. I've noticed that some meditations work well and others just don't.
You guys are right, though. It does get better with practice. So far, I've been sticking to 5 - 8 minutes until I'm able to do longer sessions. |
