I plan to and am working hard to comply. I guess I'll just have to do it. I need to live my life. But she is making it very hard to do it. I'm not in the best place to move financially. But I really feel like this is the path God wants me to take.

Like you've said, Aviza, it is your life and you need to make your own decisions. Opportunities like this are rare, so definitely move as soon as you can. Your mother will have to accept it, whether she likes it or not. She can't dictate how you should live your own life. I hope you'll like your new home. The case manager is helping me get furniture from donations and stuff. My family usually helps me financially but they don't support the move. I think I'll qualify for more things through the county, like food stamps. Have to get that letter saying I'll repay the apartment by Tuesday. Hopefully they send it today.

So why don't they support the move? You say they usually help financially, but now refrain from doing so.. when you're not in the best financial situation.

Anyways. What have you told them in response to their declaration of dissaproval? Have they done so in a tactful manner?

They set me up in an apartment before, and I cracked basically. They think being on my own is bad for me emotionally. I am a little worried about being alone too much, but i have services now and take my meds. I was doing none of that before, trying to live like a normal adult, working ft, no meds, too much stress with recent divorce and debts, and health issue.

I'm in a different place, but i don't get paid for time off and am $200 less this month, with an added expense. Making my finances tight. My insurance will change because I'm under my moms policy, living with her.

Well I've been stable living with mom and historically unstable living alone. But historically I wasn't taking Meds or in treatment when I was living alone. I was doing it on my own, this time I have help. Subsidized housing, case manager, therapy, arms worker, etc.

Do you think that your caseworker can help you find insurance?

You sound very entwined with your mom. Sure your family may be concerned that you cracked once before but did they come right out and say "we disapprove" of this? And why is it their place to stop you? Like you said you weren't in therapy nor on meds before and now you have professional staff supporting you through this big step.

What came of that letter of promise to repay?

I don't know what you are talking about. I haven't got the letter yet, they said they didn't receive my check Friday. Still a work in progress, I have til Tuesday.

If you are in financial trouble, you can ask PC members to collect some funds for you. I have my own views on that but I’ll keep it myself. But that’s what poster above mentioned

I was hoping to inspire you to think outside of the box and not feel trapped by your mom's will/desires/guilt trips and can't do's.
I've watched such things transpire irl with a couple of individuals and it's very difficult to watch from the outside.
I reflect back on my mom's words when I was in my early 20s and for me, it was better to have the rift and my own seething resentment to her at various points in time than to have been used as her emotional/financial crutch. It's such a gray area because she had her finer points as well.
