I'm not coping well with my negative emotions right now. I've had it at work, and my emotional state is leaking out left and right. I cannot seem to contain my negativity. Today I complained to whomever would listen. I don’t want to impact others but I cannot help myself.

I understand how you feel. No one will listen. No one can understand how you feel. The thing about it is that finding someone that wants to listen is very, very hard to do. I have had to just keep to myself.
It's hard when it feels as though everyone is out for themselves. Most people are. A little venting on your part is understandable. No one else would think twice about it so try not to let it bother you too badly.

Yes, I feel I have to keep it to myself, but if I do, I might implode! I mean, it's a work issue, so maybe this thread belongs in the work forum, but I'm having a really hard time with the extra stress as of late. And when I get stressed, I feel more negative and my morale is low. And my negativity then seeps out.. My boss is overloading me, and I'm having a hard time with it. I talked the ears off of two colleagues yesterday, and I'm afraid I effected them negatively. And I'm afraid to talk to my boss, because I'm so upset I'm afraid that only that will show and my negative emotions, and I won't be able to express what I need from him: I need him to lighten my workload. |

Basically, my boss is overloading me while another colleague is apparently reading sports articles in between meetings while I'm stressing about getting all my work done. My morale is so low, my stress is showing, and I am feeling super negative.
I have to talk to my boss, but I don't know how to tell him he's overloaded me. I'm afraid he'll push back and tell me not to stress instead of lightening my workload. |

Nothing wrong with venting a little bit, golden_eve! Everybody needs it sometimes!

Awww, thanks Mickey! ![]() I don't see my therapist for two weeks!!!! And I cannot vent too long to my husband because he's stressed at work too and has limits on how much I vent to him! ARGH. I am all alone... I feel all alone with this. |

And what I'm most afraid of? Is breaking down in front of my boss and getting too overly emotional because I'm overly stressed and negative. He pushes people until you break, basically. And that's the point I'm at: a breaking point.

Eve I am sorry you are feeling this way and I am glad you shared. Its such a shame that we have to feel shame for being emotional, feeling beings. That we have to worry about breaking down. I do not want you to feel shame for being emotional. No one wants to break down, especially at work but if you feel like you might try and excuse yourself to the bathroom or run to your car and shed a tear or two if you have to and do not beat yourself up for being you.

Thank you, Sarah! ![]() It IS a shame that I feel ashamed of my emotions. You're right. There's such a stigma against being emotional, but I am very emotional! I've broken down crying in my boss's office several times already. |

(((Eve!)
I agree, we shouldn't be ashamed to have emotions, but we are often made to feel that way. I am on the edge here too with work. So stressed as well; I've cried already this morning. My boss and her minion the editor also are capable of pushing several of us to the brink. Have you heard anything about that other job you applied to? |

golden_eve, First off I am really glad you e-mailed your boss and let them know how you felt. This is actually one thing I currently don't have to deal with because I am a 16 year old kid and don't have a job and the Summer jobs I am looking for are no where near the pressures of the ones that are talked about on here by the adults members on here. So I really admire you for standing up and doing that.
