Feel a little numb at the moment

What if something happens

What if it does

It will eventually

What if I can’t handle it

Need to stop letting the worry be in me here

Forget the what ifs. Can't worry about them until they happen. Then deal with them. They just mirror common anxiety.

This sort of toxic positivity is not very helpful for anyone with an anxiety disorder. They cant just ignore the things that give them anxiety. And to dismiss them so, well, dismissively can be quite invalidating. Usually what's more helpful is to listen to what is bothering to the person and help them reframe it.

To the OP, do you want to tell us a little more of what is bothering you?

Reframing can isolate anxiety so one can work on the anxiety itself. Anxiety is usually what drives and creates the "What Ifs" in the first place. As anxiety decreases, the volume on the What Ifs is turned down.

Yes but telling someone just to "forget the what ifs" is not reframing. It's just telling them to turn it off when they have no coping skills to do so.

I feel much better when I turn off the "What Ifs". Cranking on them makes me feel much worse. Taking risks is an important part of life, and I have taken many. Start with small risks and work up from there. The joy of accomplishment is unbeatable.
