Unfortunately I experienced multiple traumas over the past ten to twelve years. Multiple surgeries from injuries etc. I'm grateful to be alive. I have a tendency to show I have a handle on everything due to people saying get over it, it's not that bad, rude behaviour etc. At the moment I'm overwhelmed.

Three weeks ago I had major surgery on a limb. Now another previously operated limb ( last surgery 17 months ago) is bothering me- function.
I had a recent follow up with a surgeon who operated on the above limb and also participated in my recent surgery. He also asked how Is the other limb he operated on. Due to focusing on my recent surgery, my fear of doctors ( he's insensitive, quit seeing him, he particpated in my recent surgery due to requiring two surgeons) I said it's okay and I know it will never be 100 percent. I was overwhelmed, cautious, and didn't speak up.

It's grown steadily worse. I feel overwhelmed with function issues. Also dealing with several injuries, doctors etc. I try to help myself and hope my symptoms settle ( few weeks or more) before seeking care. So many past injuries not dealt with at the time due to my situations. Also if Im experiencing a few problem areas I can only focus on one at a time.

I'm so sorry that you are overwhelmed. It sounds really difficult to be in physical pain, having physical function issue due to the surgery, and on top of that being afraid to be honest with the surgeon who makes you uncomfortable due to trauma. its understandable provided what you've been through. Is there anyone who can maybe advocate for you?
Thanks for this!

My current surgery was on my right limb, I'm still healing, and wearing a cast. The new issue is my left limb, operated on 17 months ago. I really do not have an advocate; family etc. I may book an appointment with my other doctor (not a surgeon) two weeks from now. If my symptoms improve I will cancel. He's respectful etc.. Hopefully he will send a letter to the surgeon after examining me stating my symptoms etc.

The pain, function is overwhelming and tiring. Routine tasks are difficult however I keep trying.

Update: I made an appointment next week with my doctor (not surgeon) to discuss my opposite limb. Hopefully he will fax an update to the surgeon. I've had so many old injuries,I sometimes worry being a pest going in. I try to help myself or see if it settles first. Limb issue bothering me for a month. I tend to suck it up or delay going in.

I’m very sorry. It must be difficult to cope with having all those surgeries. I can understand why you feel overwhelmed. Feeling overwhelmed

I have a plan. I see my doctor next week regarding my limb that was operated on 18 months ago. Issues starting again. If he suggests I see the jerk surgeon ( he did the surgery) I will ask him if my new surgeon deals with this issue and ask him send to a letter with my symptoms etc. If he doesn't deal with my issue in his surgical practice, than I will ask my doctor to be sent to a different one. In the meantime I will look up info on other specialists.

Some say skills are most important and not bedside. My previous surgeon is so insensitive I don't care how good he is. He's a f'ing arshole. Skills, common courtesy, and respect are important.
