While I said "we," I'm coming solely from my own perspective. Though maybe people will be able to relate.

I have noticed that I am not always accurate in my thinking about certain situations. Especially when I'm alone. I over think, worry, and my mind goes to dark places. (I.e. "Why did they do that? Because they dislike me? Did I do something? I did. I suck." Or if I don't feel good about something someone did it could go the other way too: "I'm worried they might be a jerk or abusive"). I have my own special mix of specific thoughts my mind goes to.

Sometimes, its true, I need to be careful with my heart with someone. Other times, I need to slow down, check the facts of what I know about the situation, and if there's things I don't know, do my best to not fill in that blank with an automatic negative thoughts. There are many reasons a person may say or do something. Sometimes, its easy and best to ask why. Other times not.

I'm still working on this.

Just wanted to share.

I’m working on this too. I worry and overthink. I’m working on just not caring what other people think but it’s not easy. I have to keep redirecting myself to the things I’m grateful for in my life. That usually helps me to let go of the other stuff that I can’t control.

This too shall pass. That’s something I often say to myself

I have Imposter Syndrome, and so I'm very guilty of telling myself that whatever good things I've done that day aren't good enough, or that it was just sheer dumb luck that I did as well as I did. Or sucks because I feel like a sham, like I'm just pretending to be a worthy person when on the inside, I'm nothing. I trying to combat those thoughts with other, more positive mantras.

Woven, I have a similar thought pattern when alone. I'm also trying to work on it.

So true WG, I get this too sometimes. Is it because our brains are trying to make sense of situations sometimes and we want to have answers so we fill the blanks? The human mind is a mysterious thing.

when I am alone I am usually thinking about my abuse

that is: if I'm not having a flashback

I don't really say stuff to myself... more think stuff
