I get really angry when someone compliments me!. for me, I just don't see what they are complimenting- like I can't see the good in me so can't understand why they say it, and because I can't understand, and don't see it, I get angry and frustrated
how does everyone handle comppliments |

I find them difficult. I think a lot of this depends on how we were raised. Some of it may even be cultural.
Now I am at the stage where I view compliments as saying as much about the giver than the recipient. How they feel and think. As such I thank them but don't read too much into them. |

Hi!
I can relate to your feelings. Now I have a internal checklist now that helps me to believe the compliment & own it on the inside of me. Smile. Smile big. I slowly breathe that compliment down to my toes & back up to my head & out to The Great Beyond. While I am taking that first deep breath I am able to change my usual negative self talk & start self talk that is full of the compliment. I take a good 15 seconds to respond now. I find that I close my eyes & smile. My smile let's the other human know you are feeling it. On my first exhale I blow out any negative mind chatter. It feels good to hear a compliment. Still smiling I say my thank you then breathe it in again. I try to carry that compliment with me through out the day or until the next one. It has helped me with staying on top of & being aware of my stinking thinking. I also choose to believe that they mean what they say with the compliment. My mind would tell me otherwise. We are all magic & stardust & ****. Peace. |

On the rare occasion I would get one, I'd simply say thank you.

I tell them thank you, but I have to admit most compliments make me feel really uncomfortable. I tend not to believe them because I have difficulty seeing anything good in myself.
