I don’t feel this new job is going to work out— it’s insanely busy here so the hands-on training has been very spotty. I don’t really think I’m doing a very good job, and I don’t enjoy it. The problem is, I don’t know what else I would do for a living. I honestly love creating art and crafting, but those professions are infamous for not paying much. Not that I need a lot, honestly— but I’ve got lots of bills, student loans, car payments, etc. that I need to take care of every month. I’m tired and depressed at this point. I feel like giving up. I feel like I’ll never find a job that I love that will pay me enough to live on. I got into pharmacy because it was easy— the math and science were not tough— and because of the expected job growth. And truth be told, it’s been a great source of job stability through the pandemic. But I’m tired of it now. I’m bored and burnt out. My interest is gone and I don’t want to deal with people anymore. I just want to draw.

I'm sorry about your job - but I think it's wonderful that you want to draw.

Lol thanks BethRags-- it's one of my absolute favorite things to do. If I could make a solid living doing it, I totally would.

Do you have any sort of artistic training if even a certificate?

I love to draw and paint and I have artistic training but I do something else for a living that I also love very much. It doesn’t stop me from drawing. You can still draw and you can still do it for a living in a part time fashion or a side job. You can sell your art or exhibit.

That’s a reasonable option! Don’t need to give up art. It’s just too hard to make money on it doing it full time. I know some very accomplished and reasonably known artists and almost all of them do other things to help pay bills: teach classes or workshops or do something completely unrelated. Good luck!!!!

Have you ever done faux finishing? I once had a friend who did that and made a lot of money working in rich people’s homes.
There is also murals you could paint for nurseries in homes, too. Interior designers may hire artists for specific projects. Then there is the entertainment industry with set designers and other artists. The sky is not the limit for creative goals and careers. You can excel beyond the limits of the sky!! Wishing you the best on your new artistic endeavors! ![]() |

Have you looked into graphic design? There are jobs where you can create digital art for a living.

Look into creating nfts.....I think it’s non fundable tokens or something anyway it basically art and people will pay lots for it and use it as a token for the new currencies. I’m not sure exactly how it works but this guy made 22,000 on like six nft paintings....it’s great for artists and they don’t even need to sell the original just a digital version usually.

Hey downandlonely, I would like to learn Photoshop, Procreate, etc., but my main experience right now is in drawing. Definitely would like to get into graphic design though.
