why is the universe's mandate mere repetition. every lifre has been lived already, every notorious life can be reflected on as like the other which has already been spent. every moment has already been lived in every life at the moment of birth, every thought has been thought ad infinitum. another universe with the nmandate of repetition must also be overlayed with the known universe asking the same redundant useless question. done and done by and by. tired again of being tired again.

Hi Kathyanita,

I think that what you describe was my first feeling of depression.

The writer Albert Camus talks about 'The Myth of Sisyphus' in which Sisyphus is condemned to roll a huge stone uphill, only to see it roll down again, and then he has to do it again and again ad infinitum.

Camus says, "We must imagine Sisyphus happy."

That's a tall order. One way of dealing with the feeling of repetition is through Buddhist mindfulness. By focusing on the 'now' the present moment, Buddhists believe that we can dispel the feeling of endlessness that our minds get caught in. They believe that time is an illusion, 'Samsara' which is the root of suffering.

A good example of this is with fearful anticipation. If we could live in the present we wouldn't keep anticipating the worst, but experience what happened just as it happened.

It's a thought.

Cheers, Myzen.
